The Meridian Stadium was planned for a vacant site adjacent to the Millennium Dome. This feasibility study - carried out for one of the members of a consortium looking to purchase the Dome - was intended to test the concept of locating a 60,000 seat multi-purpose arena on the Greenwich Peninsula.

The stadium’s striking form was developed in response to the shape of the Dome, to create a low-lying but dramatic building seeming to float above the ground with a large open concourse at the top of the first, sunken tier of seating.
