This new house was designed as a cluster of barn-like buildings. Though the appearance of the buildings is reminiscent of traditional forms of construction in the Sussex Weald, the floor plan makes a break with tradition. The plan is free-flowing internally, and open to landscape form each living space, both in the house’s immediate vicinity and long distance views.

Light is manipulated in many ways with screens, wall, rooflights and strategically placed picture windows coming together to give the house a bright and airy feel, with a constant visual relationship to the landscape around.
